George E. Janssen

GEORGE EVERET JANSSEN Age 85, beloved husband, father and grandfather was embraced by the Lord and taken to his heavenly home on April 24, 2012. George was born on July 4, 1926 in Madison, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois. He was a history teacher at McKinley Junior High School and Cleveland Junior High School where he retired after 29 years with Albuquerque Public Schools. George served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman during World War II in 1944. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Smith. George is survived by loving wife, Helen Janssen; his son, Mike Janssen and wife Linda of Grand Prairie, TX; his daughter, Sandy Cook and husband Philip of Fort Worth, TX; and son Mark Janssen of Albuquerque. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Laurel Cook of San Francisco, CA and Alexandra Cook of Savannah, GA; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins and a host of friends. George will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5300 Claremont, NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, April, 30, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be David Smith, Steve Smith, Joe Martinez, Bob Martinez, Vince Martinez, Paul Ray Valdez, Marla Arrambide and Harvey Harlow.
