NEFF-George Harold Neff age 90, born on October 8, 1920, passed away quietly at home in his sleep on March 12, 2011 George worked hard all his life. He met his future wife Phyllis. While delivering newspapers to her parents in Oklahoma City, when he was a young college student at the University of Oklahoma. World War II soon called George into service for his country, followed by the Korean War. He ended his military service as a Captain in the U. S. Army. Second only to his family, George’s passion was his work as a CPA. His father, George J. Neff started the accounting firm, Neff & Associates in 1947. Together with their father, brothers George H, Edward and Richard co-founded Neff & Company CPA’s, which grew to become the largest accounting firm in the state of New Mexico. George was a proud member of the New Mexico Society of CPA’s, American Institute of CPA’s and the New Mexico State Board of Public Accountancy. George also played hard. He and Phyllis enjoyed golfing and tennis. Their entire family was involved in horse racing, from traveling to races as owners or just “playing the ponies”. They also spent many memorable family vacations, fishing and relaxing in Creede, Colorado. George will always be lovingly remembered as “King of the River.” He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Phyllis and brothers, Edward and Richard Neff. George is survived by his devoted sons, Steven and Philip Neff, daughters in laws, Cordelia and Veda Neff, grandchildren, Shelly Edmonson and husband David and Christopher George Neff. Great grand children Arianne and Koby, sister in law, Barbara Neff, nieces, Sindle Neff Sandoval, Lisa Myers and Carol Baker. Nephews, Richard and Edward Neff and Donald Alsup.As per his wishes, there will be a small family service for close friends and family at a Graveside inurnment on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE at Edith. “Dad, we find comfort in knowing that you’re back where you belong�?¯�?¿�?½�?¯�?¿�?½”in Mom’s arms. We miss you both dearly.” In lieu of flowers, George would be greatly honored by a donation to your favorite charity.
