Gerald L. Steele

Gerald L. Steele, 69, of Flora Vista, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at San Juan Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to Farmington in 1956, where he met and married Jane Saline Steele, his wife of 48 years. He joined the Farmington Police Department and served the community for more than 20 years. After retirement, he started a new career at San Juan Regional Medical Center and worked there for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Steele; and by four brothers. He leaves behind his wife Jane; daughters Geri Lynn Steele, Shawn Hartley, Shannon Steele and Rhonda Shock; sons Shane Steele and Cody Steele; brothers Edgar Mullennix, Niles Mullennix, William Steele, and Jerry Steele; sisters, Charlotte Johnson and Myrna Carson; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins, many friends and especially his grandchildren, Gary Haefner, Matt Haefner, Adam Haefner, Steve Lyman, Haley Hartley, Derrick Noyes, Aaron Selph, Shayleigh Steele, Samantha Steele, Shelby Steele, Brittani Steele, Curtis Steele, Mason Calliham, Mathieu Hibner and Koresha Patrick.
