Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gilbert Carrillo, who left this world unexpectedly on October 29, 2026. Born on September 20, 1952, in the gentle town of Socorro, New Mexico, Gilbert was a man whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and the simple joy of family.

Gilbert was the beloved son of Abrana Aragon and Nazario Carrillo. He shared his early life with his siblings, forming bonds that would last a lifetime with his brothers Leo and Doroteo "Tay" Carrillo, and his sisters Patsy Carrillo and Betty Lopez Haynes. These family ties were central to Gilbert's life, and he carried the lessons learned from his parents and siblings into his own family and community.

For many years, Gilbert dedicated himself to his work at Tripp’s Inc., where he applied his skills as a landscaper and laborer. His work was not just a job but a way to express his passion for creating beauty in the world. Gilbert's yard was his sanctuary, a place where he spent countless hours adding personal touches and building projects that reflected his creativity and love for nature.

Gilbert's personal life was enriched by a partnership of 38 cherished years with his lifelong partner, Diane B. Garcia, who predeceased him. Together, they nurtured a family that was the light of his life. Gilbert is survived by his loving children, Angel Carrillo, Loriann Carrillo and her partner Tony Jaramillo, and Christine Lucero...His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Desiree Sedillo and her husband Felipe Giron, Elena Padilla, Dominic Sanchez and his partner Lety Sanchez, and Daniel Sanchez. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Diane and Kendra Giron.

A devoted family man, Gilbert was known for his loving and caring nature. He found his greatest joy in the company of his family, where quality time spent together made his days brighter. Always hardworking, Gilbert was the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. His backyard, filled with the sounds of classic country music and laughter shared over a few beers, was a haven for him and those he loved.

Gilbert is also survived by his brothers, Rudy Carrillo and Sonny Vallejos, his sister Miguela Vallejos, and a large extended family of many nieces and nephews who will all cherish his memory and the warmth he brought into their lives.

As we say goodbye to Gilbert, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
