Gilbert "Chumpy" Raymond Castillo

Gilbert “Chumpy” Raymond Castillo, age 50, passed away May 23, 2025 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born to Raymond and Judith Castillo July 13, 1974, in Gallup, NM.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his: father, Raymond Castillo, father-in-law, Clarance Mondragon, and granddaughter, Morgan Rose Lizzi.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ruby (Mondragon) Castillo of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter and partner, Asia Castillo and James Lizzi of Rio Rancho, NM; his mother, Judith Castillo of Albuquerque, NM; mother-in-law, Celina Mondragon; brother, Thomas Castillo of Albuquerque, NM and children: Tommy Jr. Castillo, Raeanna Castillo, Cameron Castillo, and Tomasi Castillo; brother and wife, David and Debbie Castillo of Bernalillo, NM and children, Katie Castillo and Shelly Castillo; brother-in-law and wife, Fred and Carla Duran of Albuquerque, NM; Lorenzo Duran, godson of Albuquerque, NM; Adriano Duran, great nephew of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren: Richelle Bailey, Giovanni Justiniano, Anthony Justiniano, and Celina Justiniano.

Gilbert was employed by the City of Albuquerque Transit Department for 11 years as a bus driver.

A Rosary will be recited Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Reception follows in the St. Thomas Aquinas Pat D’Arco Hall.
