Gloria Nelson

Nelson died April 6, 2010, in Albuquerque. She was born Dec. 12, 1927, in Sandspring, Ariz into the Towering House People Clan for the One Who Walks Around People Clan. Nelson graduated from school at Ganado Mission. She worked in Wickenburg, Ariz., Kiabito, Ariz., Many Farms and Toyei, Ariz., where she retired from the BIA as a dorm supervisor. She went to Utah State University in Logan, Utah and got an associate’s Degree. Survivors include her husband Matthew Robert Nelson; sons Edison Nelson, Alvin Nelson, Murphy Nelson, Leland Nelson, all from Beshbetoh; Rosie Tahe of Gallup, Ramona N. Keoni of Beshbetoh, Ava Curley of Albuquerque; brothers Philip Peterson of Whitecone, Ariz., Clarence Peterson of Wingate; sisters Marjorie Hildreth of Steamboat, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Thermond and Rose Peterson; brothers Henry Peterson, Jonathan Peterson; sister Margaret Dishta; sons Ricky Nelson and Matthew Nelson Jr. Arrangements are entrusted to: Cope Memorial Chapel 1830 Barbara Ave. Gallup, New Mexico 505-722-6671
