Grace Montes

Grace Montes passed from this life peacefully into the presence of Jesus on October 28, 2022. Grace was 87 years of age. She was born in Tucumcari, NM to Eduardo and Consuelo Cardenas and was a longtime resident of Albuquerque. Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family. She absolutely loved to cook, bake, and keep everyone well-fed. She also enjoyed shopping, traveling and being in nature. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Montes; her son, Robert Marquez; and sisters, Mary Louise Layton and Lupe Garcia.

She is survived by her daughters: Laura Hernandez, Pamela Marquez and Nikki Montes of Albuquerque, NM; and son, Joseph Marquez of San Antonio, TX.

Her siblings: Gus Cardenas of Taylors, North Carolina; Eduardo Cardenas of Los Angeles, CA; Ted Cardenas; Patricia Stanton; Christina Chavez; and Elena Diaz of Albuquerque, NM.

She was also blessed with 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren + 2 on the way; and 4 great, great grandchildren, all of Albuquerque, NM.

Services for Grace will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, as follows:

Viewing at 10:00 AM: Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Calvary Church, 4001 Osuna Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109

Burial immediately following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102

Pallbearers will be Nikki Montes, Manny Ramos, David Garcia, Jerry Maestas, Stephanie Dodson, Shaun Pertner, Dave Chavez, Abraham Gomez.
