Grace Stevenson Pyeatt, 83, of Aztec, passed away on the evening of Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, after a terrible fall suffered while nurturing her granddaughter. Grace was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Abilene, Texas, the daughter of Adalai and Otha Mae Stevenson. Grace Stevenson and Bob Pyeatt were high school sweethearts, marrying June 26, 1948. Bob and Grace celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year. Grace and Bob moved to the Four Corners in 1952, where they made their home for almost 60 years. Grace was preceded in death by Bob in July. Grace leaves behind two sons, Russ and Sam (Lisa); eight grandchildren, Derrick Pyeatt, Katie Pyeatt, Alyssa (Jordan) Webb, Laura (Sam) Sowards, Jake Pyeatt, Josh Pyeatt, Rick (Callie) Beevers, Lisa Dale Beevers; three great-grandchildren, Ava Pyeatt,Gracie Beevers, Catlin Beevers; Cyd (Vernon) Beevers; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Pyeatt of Clyde, Texas. Grace requested a small memorial service. Grace and Bob's ashes will be spread together on the family farm near Abilene, Texas. The family would like to thank Grace's dear friends and neighbors who gave her so much support to the end.
