Grace Ann Sedillo

October 19, 1974 — October 27, 2021

Grace Ann Sedillo, age 47, passed away on October 27, 2021, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.

Grace was born in Albuquerque, NM on October 19, 1974 to Carlie Sedillo and Yolanda Gurule. She grew up in Albuquerque and attended public schools here, graduating from Valley High School in 1996. While she was at Valley High School she made many friends and boyfriends, and she participated in a variety of job training experiences, including working at Pistol Pete’s Pizza and at a local community center. She enjoyed every activity her high school years had to offer and she enjoyed being the “Queen Bee”, especially at dances.

After graduating high school Grace participated in a variety of work and leisure programs. She did assembly and packaging work, she rolled silverware for a casino restaurant in Hobbs, she was a receptionist at Advocacy Partners, and most recently Grace participated at the North Fourth Art Center (formerly VSA) where she especially enjoyed sewing and painting. Her unique style of painting joyous, colorful hearts and flowers inspired her fellow artists to interpret her designs into their own works.

Everyone who knew Grace enjoyed being in her presence. Grace was caring and charismatic, loving, funny, generous, and kind. It is inadequate to say she will be missed.

Grace had many housemates and surrogate family members over the years, most recently having chosen the staff and housemates at Life Mission Family Services to be her family. Her very dedicated staff cared for her with dignity, respect, and love as she spent her final days on home hospice through Kindred Hospice.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Carlie Sedillo and Yolanda Gurule. She is survived by her brother Margarito Ruiz, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and surrogate family.

Services are scheduled for 10AM on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Daniels Family Funeral Services Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM 87110.

The family would like to thank Life Mission Family Services and Kindred Hospice.
