Guy Edward Seaborn
Date of Birth April 23, 1941
Date of Passing October 24, 2025
Guy was born in Denton Texas. His family moved to Espanola New Mexico for his father’s work as an electrician at Los Alamos. They subsequently moved to Albuquerque’s north valley when he was about 5 years old, where he and his brother Larry grew up. He met his lifelong friend Bill Stevens during these early years. After graduating high school, he married Sandra Spohr, and they had two sons, Rick and Ron. Guy worked at Conniff’s market for several years from his teens to his twenties before beginning employment at Frontier Ford where he enjoyed his role as a car sales expert. A new career opportunity became available in the form of a new hardware store, known as Allwoods Home Improvement Center. Guy worked his way up the ladder to manager, and on to district manager, which involved overseeing several local stores and opening new locations in other states. His reputation in management caught the attention of a new home improvement center based in Atlanta, known as the Home Depot. He respectfully declined their offer, wanting to keep his roots here in Albuquerque. Allwoods/Cashway was also where he met his wife of 40-plus years, Jerri Paul. His work ethic and managerial style proved to be one of his strong suits that allowed his career to flourish, garnering respect from his employees and managerial peers alike.
Guy loved riding his motorcycle and taking trips to the Sturgis Motorcycle rally with his friends Tom Morgan and Don Lombard. Sometimes others would join the ride, including his sons. They would enjoy time spent together, and the camaraderie shared, over the passing miles throughout the Black Hills of South Dakota. In his early years, he and his friend Bill Stevens would get out for deer hunting trips, and in later years they would spend family time together riding snowmobiles and enjoying the Stevens cabin in northern New Mexico. Guy took his young sons to various parts of New Mexico and Colorado to camp and fish, teaching the art of fishing, which was also teaching attributes of patience and focus. Guy and Jerri would frequently travel to parts of Texas to visit in-laws, nieces and nephews, which was reciprocated when Jerri’s family would travel to Albuquerque for family gatherings over holidays. Guy’s other passion were his numerous dachshunds and Dobermans he had over the years. He and Jerri were volunteers with Doberman Rescue of NM, transporting and fostering abused and ill-treated animals. Some of these foster jobs failed, and a fur baby found their new forever home with Guy and Jerri. Over the years, Guy would invariably be a source of information regarding aspects of do-it-yourself home repair for his sons. His extensive knowledge garnered from many years in the industry not only taught the physical aspect of repair, but also taught and instilled independence and self-reliance.
Beneath that sometimes stoic and seeming impenetrable persona was an individual who was genuinely loving, caring and understanding. He shared clever words of wisdom, that left some scratching their heads until those words were understood, releasing at least a smile or even a laugh. Those phrases carry on to this day, and will for years to come, as we reflect on the man we know as Guy. He will most definitely be missed, but we’re so happy and blessed to have had him in our lives as a friend, spouse, brother, uncle and sons. Love you Dad.
