Helen Mahedy

Helen Rose Mahedy, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, at the age of 91. Born and raised in Springfield Gardens, New York, Helen was known for her warm heart, gracious spirit, and unwavering love for her family.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Mahedy, her mother, Mary J. Burns, her father, James D. Burns, and her brother, James D. Burns. She is survived by her son, John Hughes Mahedy (Hughie) and his wife Bernadette, daughter Paula Mahedy-Aragon and husband Vincent J. Aragon, her grandchildren, Nicholas Aragon, Emily Aragon, Amanda Robinson and husband Gordon Barnard, Alyssa Robinson, and her great-grandchildren, Amos and Eero Barnard.

Helen met the love of her life, Paul, at the Roller Rink when she was just 17 years old. They married in 1953 when she was 19 and Paul was 21. Together, they celebrated over 55 years of marriage before Paul's passing in 2008. Their love story was one of devotion and companionship, a testament to their enduring bond.

Helen had a passion for gardening and took great joy in tending to her flowers. Her garden reflected her nurturing nature and love for beauty. She was always gracious and friendly to everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Helen's legacy lives on through her family, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be held on Tuesday July 15th at 10am at Daniels Family Funerals 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM.
