Henry McBride Jr.

Henry McBride, 83, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in his Albuquerque home, after a long battle with dementia.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Katie (Armijo) McBride. He was born in Moriarty, NM, lived in Chilili, NM until about the age of 11, and has been an Albuquerque resident since then. 

After the death of his father, at the young age of 11, he went to work to support his mother and two siblings, as farm and agriculture help, followed by car washing at Octopus Car Wash. At the age of 18, in 1957, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, and was stationed in Barstow, California. Upon completion of his term of duty, he went to work for Canada Dry.  In 1963, he married the love of his life, Katie Armijo. In mid to late 60’s, he and his brother-in- law embarked on a new upholstery business, that would become his passion and job for the rest of his working years, “Henry’s Upholstery”. 

Mr. McBride is preceded in death by his father Henry McBride Sr., and his mother Clara (Trujillo) McBride.
He is survived by his wife Katie, his daughter Eileen and husband David, his son Henry (Sonny) and wife Angela, and his son Ronald. He leaves 10 grandchildren (Karen and her husband Sam Goldsmith, Isaac, Nathaniel, Samuel, Sierra, Christiana, Megan, Joye, Grayson, and Brennan), and one great grandchild (William).

He loved spending time, with family and friends, laughing, joking, taking long rides to enjoy the beauty of creation in the mountains, stopping for a bologna sandwich picnic, and ice cream or soda on the way. More than anything, he loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, and soul. He displayed this love by loving and honoring his family.  He, in turn, was blessed by a long life on this earth, Psalm 91: 14-19.

Services in honor of Henry McBride will be held at Daniel’s Family Funeral Services, on January 24, 2019, at 3:00 PM, followed by a reception at place of services. His ashes will be taken to Santa Fe National Cemetery, on Friday January 25, 2019 at 10:30 AM.
