Herman Andrew Mortensen

Herman Andrew Mortensen, 94, of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away peacefully on May 7th,2024.

He was born on June 23rd, 1929, to Cornelius Lawrence Mortensen and Fannie Flossie Gibson in Manassa, Conejos, Colorado. Herman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. He touched the lives of those around him with his kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor. To Dad/Papa:  We love you so much and look forward to when we meet again. 

Herman is survived by sons, Craig Mortensen, and his wife Sue (Fancy) of Rio Rancho, Keith Mortensen and his wife Danielle of Rio Rancho, daughter, Judy Mortensen of Rio Rancho, grandchildren, Kayla Mortensen, Kally Macias, Kristofer Mortensen and Cody Mortensen, great grandchildren, Taxton, Tenley and Walker Mortensen, his only living sister Joyce Hess. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Norma Louise Mortensen, sisters, Vivian, Laura, Afton, and Gaytha, and brothers, Kenneth and LaVere Mortensen.

Throughout his life, Herman was known for his joy of “saving the world”, tinkering, his love of the church and gospel and above all, his love for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

On behalf of Herman, his family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all dear friends and relatives who were so kind and supportive during this very difficult time.

Graveside Service will be held in honor of Herman at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road in Rio Rancho, Monday, May 13th, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
