Age 69, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home in San Antonio, NM surrounded with his family at his side. He was born in Gallup, NM on September 13, 1946, to Lucius and Frankie Carpenter Smith. Jabez was a resident of San Antonio since 1993. He was a logger and a mechanic and loved the outdoors. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Jabez was a devoted family man and loved animals of any kind. Jabez will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Justin; and his brother, Roy. Jabez is survived by his wife and the love of his life for the past 26 years, Mary Ann (Recore) Smith; children, Charlene Smith, Tara (Corey) Tarver, Michelle (Shelly Carrillo) Thorne, Savanna Smith, Daniel Thorne and Arrianna Gonzales; and sister, Iva (Bob) Greiner.
