Jacqueline Louise Thompson, 83, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026.
Jacqueline was born on December 27, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to William and Helen Block. She graduated from Lindblom High School in Chicago in 1960 and went on to build a successful career in public service. Jacqueline served as Finance Manager for the Village of Bolingbrook for 28 years, where she was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the community.
On June 14, 1964, Jacqueline married the love of her life, Eugene M. Thompson, in Chicago, Illinois. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage and built a loving family.
Jacqueline had a passion for gardening and was an active member of the Bolingbrook Garden Club. She found great joy in nurturing flowers and creating beautiful outdoor spaces. She also generously supported charitable causes that were close to her heart, including Watermelon Ranch.
Jacqueline is survived by her daughters, Laura Thompson and Lisa O'Malley and her husband, Michael O'Malley; granddaughter Caitlin O'Malley; grandson Patrick O'Malley; sister Nancy Block; nephew Elias Block and his wife, Miao; niece Emma Block; and great-grandchildren Chino and Dezi.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene M. Thompson; her parents, William and Helen Block; and her brother, Larry Block.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Humane New Mexico, Watermelon Ranch, or the American Lung Association.
Jacqueline will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to her family, love of nature, and the lasting impact she made on those who knew her. Her memory will remain a cherished part of the lives of her family and friends.
