Jim was a loving husband, father, and exceptional provider for his family. Jim had a sense of humor that brightened everyone's day. He enjoyed teasing the pet dogs, telling them they should be out hunting, making everyone laugh. His true enjoyment was RV camping with his wife Mary. They traveled all over the United States by themselves and with their RV clubs. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing baseball, in later years he enjoyed playing golf with his close golf buddies. Jim was also a mechanic, during his time in the Corvair Club he rebuilt an engine in his Corvair with the help of his wife Mary.

Jim also enjoyed woodworking, he even made custom cabinets for his home and other numerous projects. Throughout his years he really enjoyed gardening, he would even joke about being a serious farmer and would have to hire a picking crew when the produce was ripe. Jim had many skills, and maintaining the home was an immense help to his family. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Thanksgiving was very special time to Jim, as the whole family was present most years. He enjoyed their visits and was always very appreciative of how well his family took care of him.

Jim also had a brilliant military career spanning over thirty years. Jim spent WWII in the Merchant Marines aboard a Liberty Ship. After the war, he enlisted in the Army as a private and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Grade 3. After retirement, Jim would ask Mary jokingly every day if his reinstatement orders to report for duty had come in the mail. He was a true patriot.

Jim dearly loved his family and country.
