James M. Jones

JONES-James M. Jones, 83, a resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away October 19, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Janice Tafoya; step-daughter, Sharon A. Shannon; numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Arnold of Albuquerque, NM; step-son, Dr. Robert J. Goldsworthy of Scottsdale, AZ; parents, Willis C. and Edith Jones of Garner, OK. James was born in Stilwell, OK November 27, 1926. He served during World War II on AKA 52, one of the most important vessels of that war which was “designed to land fully equipped assault troops on enemy held beaches while defending herself against possible enemy actions.” He worked with the Corps of Engineers in Kansas City, Bureau of Indian Affairs in Albuquerque, and the Bureau of Land Management in Santa Fe before retiring in 1981. James loved nature. He enjoyed hiking in the mountains, bird watching, walking on the beach looking for driftwood, studying the Bible, music, especially the older Hymns and singing with Church Choirs, teaching and playing with his German Shepherd, and most of all, helping and giving to others. His quick Midwestern wit and love of humor endeared him to others. The family requests that no flowers be sent. A Visitation will be held 6:00pm-7:00pm, Thursday, October 21, 2010, Daniels Family Funeral Services, Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM. A Memorial Service will immediately follow the visitation, Carlisle Chapel. Interment will be at 10:30am, Friday, October 22, 2010, Santa Fe National Cemetery.
