Jamy Peevy

April 17, 1956 — January 13, 2023

Albuquerque

Jamy Peevy, age 66 passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in the early morning hours of January 13, 2023 at Presbyterian Hospital, due to complications from Pancreatic Cancer. Jamy was a long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, and fellow lover and pursuer of our Lord Jesus Christ, Gregg Peevy.

She is also survived by her loving family, Parents, Bill (deceased) and Dorothy Whaley, brother Bill and his three children, Alexa, Trey, and Christa, Sister in law, Lisa Haney and husband Pat, their son Chris, Aunt Mildred Slater and husband Bill, Aunt Evelyn Denton, and husband Gary, along with numerous dear friends, and her expansive church family across the United States and overseas. Jamy retired in July of 2021 from a long, successful career with Sandia National Laboratories. Jamy was born on Long Island, NY on April 17, 1956. Although Jamy was only 66 years old when she was called home to our Lord Jesus Christ, she lived life to the fullest. Jamy and Gregg, enjoyed many years of travel throughout the United States and the Island of Taiwan in 1998. They devoted their lives to Christ, and to His purpose over the last 30+ years, supporting a Christian student organizations on UNM campus, attending conferences, visiting and blending with other Christian believers throughout the earth. Jamy was a pillar, and pattern of a loving spiritual mother in the Lord, to many young believers across the globe. Her daily living, was a testament to many, including her beloved family, of her great love, steadfastness, and faithfulness over the years, for our Lord Jesus Christ. Jamy hosted many in her home over the years, providing wonderful, delicious meals, and a place to call home. She was a true servant of God’s love and shepherding.

Jamy stood unwavering, by her husband’s side, for many years during his own battle with severe heart failure. She never lost hope and nurtured her husband through an eventual heart transplant and many months of recovery. Jamy meant the world to her husband Gregg. His sentiments toward Jamy, were so heartfelt and all encompassing. For example, a word from Gregg to his beloved “I love you so much, you are my wonderful wife, my best friend, the one I can always turn to and the one I want by my side. I treasure you and ALL that you are. You are truly a worthy woman to me, and my fellow heir of the grace of life…., I just praise and thank our Lord Jesus Christ for providing me with such a companion as you. You are truly beyond all that I could ask or think. I hope and pray we can spend many more years together with my new heart….we are really holding on together with true happiness – Christ and the church, thanks so much for keeping our home always open to all those who needed love and care”

Although our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved Jamy, we are comforted in knowing that she was at full and perfect peace, knowing that she had little time left before she took her last breath. Hours before her death, she declared that she “surrenders all to her Lord and Savior”. She was also selfless in death as she was in life. In her last days, she stated that it pained her to see her loved ones so grievous, and to “get on with it – her passing” so our hearts could begin to heal.

To our beloved Jamy, thank you! Thank you for your love, your care, your shepherding, your pouring out as an immense gift to the body of Christ, the church. Until we all meet again!
