The Weaver family is saddened to announce the passing of Jan Paul Weaver on November 28th, 2023. Jan was 74. He was a fine man, and he lived a good life. He died after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Jan leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Becky. They have 2 sons Hunter & Mack. Hunter married Megan this year and they blessed Jan and Becky with their first grandchild. Hunter, Megan and Reece Weaver make their home in Albuquerque. Mack has made his home in Phoenix for several years. Jan’s greatest pride and joy were Hunter and Mack and he held them fiercely in his heart. Sweet baby Reece’s arrival in 2022 was a godsend. Reece brought happy days into Jan’s world at a time when his health was waning, and joyfulness was fleeting.
Jan’s brother, Scott and sister, Cindy both reside in Las Cruces, NM. His parents are both deceased.
Jan worked for UPS for 37 years as a delivery driver. Most of his time at UPS was spent delivering a rural route including Mountainaire, Vaughn, Encino, Willard, and Torreon. He enjoyed his work and developed long lasting relationships with his UPS colleagues as well as the families and businesses he delivered to.
The Weaver’s wish to acknowledge the healthcare and hospice professionals that have cared for Jan over the past several years. The cancer team at Rust Presbyterian Cancer Center began this journey with Jan and saw him through his diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy treatments. His hospice team from Presbyterian Hospice include Laurie, RN and Shanna, Certified Nursing Assistant. Laurie and Shanna spent endless hours caring for Jan and supporting Becky. Jan was grateful to both for their care, compassion and sporting conversations.
Jan’s memory was unquestionable and keenly sharp up until his passing - especially his recall of all thing’s sports. He could elaborate on all sports stats & trivia with almost pinpoint accuracy. He loved his Lobos and Pittsburgh Steelers. College sports were his favorite level of play - from fall football to March Madness.
Jan’s final arrangements are being handled through Daniels Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends to their home later. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation.
We love you Jan, you will be missed by many, and we will hold you in our hearts for a lifetime.
