Jason Stephen Lovato

April 22, 1976 — December 17, 2025

Jason “Jay” Stephen Lovato passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 22, 1976, Jason was a kindhearted individual known for livening up any room, event, setting with his clever humor, generosity and smile.

Jay is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Lovato and Aunt Janette Perez. He is survived by his beloved mother, Theresa Lovato; his son Jason “Little Jay” Lovato, girlfriend Maddie; Girlfriend Susan Tafoya; Sister Tracy Jaramillo and her husband David; Godson Joshua Jaramillo; Nieces Aubrey and Nikki Jaramillo; and Uncle, Lawrence Perez.

With over 25 years of experience, Jay dedicated his career to assisting individuals with mobility challenges through the use of assistive technology, working collaboratively with therapists across New Mexico and neighboring states with unwavering dedication and care, consistently prioritizing respect and facilitating ease of movement in daily life. His legacy of professionalism and influence endures in the lives he impacted. Colleagues recall Jay as a focused and private individual whose subtle humor and kindness left a lasting impression.

As a proud Spartan alumnus of Bernalillo High School, Jay lived for sports, both on and off the court, playing soccer and basketball, and later cheering on his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees. However, Jay's favorite athlete and greatest pride was his beloved son, Jason “Little Jay” Vicente Lovato. Jay was deeply devoted to his son and took immense pride in raising/providing for him and finding the greatest joy in the moments and experiences they shared together.

Jay will be remembered as a true son of Bernalillo, a man who stayed true to his roots, A “Bosqueno” through and through. Jay treasured his many friendships, and if you wanted to maintain that friendship being able to take a joke was a prerequisite. The good-natured teasing and witty one liners were all part of his charm.

The love and bond Jay shared with his family was unparalleled, and being loved by him was one of life’s greatest blessings. Jays’ gigantic presence, wisdom, infectious laughter, which was often accompanied by a bright red face, and even his questionable advice will be deeply missed and will without a doubt leave a significant void in all of our lives.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to friends and family for their support and condolences during this incredibly difficult time.

Until we meet again, Jay, we look forward to your signature greeting of 'What's up!' - Peace.

Honorary Pallbearers: Tracy Darnell, Jonathan Dominguez, Paul Guitterez, Santiago Montoya, Paul Madrid, David Garcia, Jason Garcia, Mark Perea *Chuck Aguilar, *Joe Lepre.
