Jeanne Halladay

December 16, 1929 — June 16, 2020

HALLADAY – Jeanne E. Halladay (nee Fitrell), 90, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1993, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.   Jeanne and her husband Kenneth (deceased) were originally from Cleveland, Ohio, where they raised seven children.  She was a Brownie Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, and PTA President.  Jeanne co-founded and served as the President of the Junior Women’s Club of Lakewood, OH. Never one to like an empty nest, Jeanne went to college in her 40s to earn her degree in Early Childhood Education. She then opened and operated a children's daycare funded by the City of Lakewood for many years.

After moving to New Mexico, Jeanne found a calling through involvement with her church, becoming one of the original members of the Church of the Incarnation in Rio Rancho. She was a Lector in the Church for many years. Once she realized that there was a lack of social and charitable opportunities for women in the area, she co-founded the Women’s Club of West Mesa.

Cherished mother of Eileen Zanders, Sue Chambers (George), Kathy Colley (George), Ken Halladay, John Halladay (Linda), Jeanne Coughlin (Kevin), and Patty Clark (Jim). Pre-deceased by their son Michael Matthew. Grandma (Nana) to Kristin, Mark, Lauren, Kelly, Brittany, Derek, Dylan, Devin, Katie, Emma and Charlie.  Great Grandma to Zach, Ben, Eleanor, Dane, Ford, Finley, Delaney, Eleanor and Mia. Her family was the most important part of her life, which was evident to all who knew her.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 20th at the Church of the Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Rd NE, Rio Rancho, NM, with visitation at 9:30 a.m.  Arrangements by Daniels Funeral Home, Rio Rancho.  In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of the terrible burden the pandemic is having on seniors, the family requests any donations be made to the Presbyterian Foundation in memory of Jeanne Halladay.  To donate go to www.phs.org/give and designate gift to category of ‘Other’ and specify Hospice House or call 505-724-7003.
