Jeffrey Scott Pettit

Jeffrey Scott Pettit, longtime resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, died on the morning of December 21, 2017 at the age of 62 as a result of complications from ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig ’s disease. Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Desirae; his children, Anthony, Lindy, Shawn, Matthew, and Austin; his grandchildren Christian, Felicity, Keaton, Rex, Corbin, and Ryland; his sisters Teri and Patti; and his brother, Brian. He is predeceased by his parents, Medford and Ann, and his son, Christopher.

Jeffrey was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 19, 1955. He worked as a metrologist for National Calibration, Inc. for more than 20 years. On March 12, 1977, he married Desirae. Family and community were essential cornerstones of Jeffrey’s life and he was known for his open door and warm generosity.

Jeffrey was a devoted grandfather and an avid woodworker. He enjoyed crafting personalized items such as plaques and pens for friends and family. Jeffrey was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching football in his spare time. He was also a baseball enthusiast who enjoyed attending the Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, New Mexico each year. Jeffrey was a very patriotic individual and was fond of the American flag, bald eagles, and the fourth of July. He was a spiritual man who enjoyed listening to Christian radio and donating to worthy causes. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him through his work and hobbies.

A memorial service for Jeffrey will be held at Daniels Family Funeral Services Southern Chapel on Southern Blvd in Rio Rancho at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 29th. Jeffrey’s wife and children will be sharing memories of him at the service.

A graveside service will be held at the Kirtland Cemetery in Kirtland, New Mexico on Friday, December 29th.
