Jennie passed away at home on April 7, 2017 in Rio Rancho, NM, after a brief struggle with cancer. Jennie was born July 20, 1926, in Boston, MA, the daughter of Michele(Michael) and Benedetta Staiti.
In 1944, Jennie married Gerald (Jerry) G. Groux. They were married for 61 years before his death in 2005.
Jennie is survived by her daughters, Joanne Cenicola, Jeri Groux, Stephanie Kusayanagi-Dees, her son-in-law David Dees; her nephew whom she raised as her son, Michael Carter, grandchildren John Cenicola, his wife Katy, Leonard Cenicola Jr., his wife Delfina, Scott Kusayanagi, his wife Lori, Sarah Mosunic and Clinton Tada, great-grandchildren Meagan, Mychal, Cameron, Dylan, Cody, Brady, Dominic, Dylan, Harvest, Zachary, Haven, Stormie, Irish; great-great grandchildren, Makayla, Mya and Emma.
Jennie is preceded in death by her 10 siblings, her son-in-laws Leonard Cenicola and Gordon Kusayanagi.
Jennie loved to travel, dance, create arts and crafts, reading, playing cards and visiting casinos. She was an extremely welcoming presence to everyone who was lucky enough to meet her. That’s why she was known affectionately as “Ma”.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation at www.phs.org/give noting donation is in memory of Jennie Groux for the Jorgensen Cancer Center at Rust Medical Center or Rust Medical Center, P.O. Box 26666, Albuquerque, NM 87125-6666.
Please join us for a “Remembrance Reception” on Saturday, April 15, 2017, 3PM to 6PM at the Cenicola home in Rio Rancho, NM.
