November 10, 1958 — February 8, 2019

Belotti, Jerry M.

Jerry M. Belotti, 60, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 10, 1958 to Angelo and Evelyn (Zito) Belotti of Cold Spring, NY. The Belotti family moved to the Rio Rancho in 1970. He met Janet and was in love with her from then on. He graduated from Cibola High School in 1977. They were married in 1979 and have been married 39 years. Jerry began a career in law enforcement with the Albuquerque Police Department in 1984.  He spent time as a Patrol Officer in a marked patrol car, a Burglary Detective, several years as a Motor Officer, and finished his career as an Undercover Detective with the EastSide Narcotics Unit. He retired in 2005 after 21 years of service to the citizens of Albuquerque.  Immediately after retiring in 2005 he enrolled at CNM to become a Nurse Tech and was hired by Presbyterian Hospital at the Main Campus. It was his goal to enter the nursing profession.  He worked full time as a tech and attended school full time to achieve that goal.  He was selected by Presbyterian as one of the first group of employees to receive a full scholarship in Nursing provided by the Rust Foundation called the "Pathways" Nursing Program.  It was administered by the University of South Dakota and augmented locally by PHS. He graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and enjoyed his time as a Registered Nurse at Presbyterian-Downtown Cardiac Progressive Care Unit, Presbyterian Rust Medical Center's Emergency Room, and his last 3 years were at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center's Emergency Room. He served the public his entire career as a policeman and a nurse. Jerry's hobbies included riding his Harley, which he often stated was his way to decompress and relax. He was a member of a worldwide law enforcement riding club called The Punishers where he held the rank of Vice President in one of the local chapters.  His road name was "Batman." He was an expert at shooting with handguns and rifles and kept current with his certifications.

Jerry is survived by his wife and best friend, Janet (Sattler) Belotti, of Rio Rancho, NM; sons Nick Belotti and wife, Elena, of Rio Rancho, NM, and Vinny Belotti of Albuquerque, NM; brothers, Chris Belotti and Ron Belotti and wife, Nicola Ontiveros; nephew, Christopher Belotti; niece, Amanda Belotti; and many friends and colleagues who will miss his sense of humor and love for life.
