Jerry Hughes

April 6, 1948 — June 26, 2025

Jerry L. Hughes, beloved husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend passed away to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 26, 2025, at the age of 77. After he graduated from Valley High School, he joined the Army. He was a proud Viet Nam Vet and Purple Heart recipient. After his military service he was a Carpenter/General Contractor for over 40 years.

Jerry deeply loved his family. He was a devoted husband, extremely proud of his two sons and a loving “Papa” to his grandchildren. He cherished his sister, daughter-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Jerry was kindhearted but always quick with a joke and believed if you weren’t being teased you weren’t being loved. He enjoyed traveling, camping, target shooting and playing pool with good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mayme Hughes, brother Ernie Hughes and his two nephews Robert and Russell Noel.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Brenda Hughes, of Rio Rancho, sons Bryan Hughes (Kara) of Albuquerque, John Hughes of Vancouver WA, and sister Shirley Hughes of Rio Rancho. Five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 9th at 11:00 am at Calvary Chapel Southwest. At 6510 Fortuna NW, Albuquerque, NM 87121 (across from West Mesa High School).
