Jim van Belle

Jim van Belle passed from this life on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the age of 66. He was born December 18, 1942 in Central City, NE and raised by Johnny and Alta (Oswalt) van Belle. Jim graduated from Sunnyside High School. He met Tyra Harris and was wed in 1975. Jim enjoyed fly fishing and golf. When remembering Jim, we are in awe to think that we have shared with such a person as he. The stories are unending of all of the ways in which he touched so many people's lives with his unselfish giving of himself or his possessions - whatever was needed. He was a man of few words but they were always spoken with much thought and care, never wanting to cause harm to anyone. We will miss him terribly, but he has left his brand on us, and it is the brand of a true warrior who fought his battles with dignity, and left us proud and fulfilled. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Tyra van Belle; sons, Spurlin Darby, Casey van Belle, Ty Darby, Cody van Belle, Shaun van Belle, and Monte van Belle; daughter, Reveille Schaeffer; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Charolette Beard, Ellen Pederson, Helen Cruz, and Lois Bosworth; and brothers, Larry Monroe, Buster van Belle and Junior van Belle.
