Jimmy Y. "Jimbo" Begay, 70, of Aztec, passed from this life Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, in Farmington. He was born May 15, 1940, in Sweetwater, Ariz. to Archie B. Begay and Mary Begay.
Jimbo married Grace, his "sweet pea," in Portland, Ore. They were together for 45 years.
He was a retired boilermaker and a member of Local 627 for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughters, Arlene and Darlene Begay; and his brother, Woody Y. Begay.
Jimbo is survived by his wife, Grace; daughters, Freda A. Begay, Michelle Begay and Deanna Begay; sons, Brian T. Begay and Darrell Begay; sisters, Amelia B. Watchman and Annde A. Begay; and brothers, Thomas Begay Sr., Edison Begay and Johnnie Begay Sr. Viewing will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 27, at Cope Memorial Kirtland Chapel, 458 County Road 6100, in Kirtland. Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Cope Memorial Kirtland Chapel, with Marty Yazzie officiating. Interment will be at Aztec Cemetery in Aztec.
