Joe Carl Sr.

Funeral Services for Joe Bahi Carl Sr., 82, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Naschitti Christian Reformed, Naschitti. The Rev. Phillip Destea will officiate. Burial will be in Naschitti Community Cemetery. Carl died Sept. 16, 2010, in Gallup. He was born May 5, 1928, in Naschitti, into the Edgewater People Clan for the Towering House People Clan. Carl attended Rehoboth School and Riverside, Calif. He was employed with Union Pacific and in Santa Fe, his trade in construction. He served in the miliary in the Air Force from 1946-1948, during World War II and 1948-1952 during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Doris Manuelito Carl; sons, Chester Carl, Gene Carl, Jimmy Carl; daughters, Gloria Carl, Dorene Carl; brothers, Joseph Tsosie, Kee Tsosie; sisters,Elaine Scott, Ella Mae Tsosie, Julia John; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Carl, Grace Tsosie: his wife, Doris Manuelito Carl; Grandparents, Hosteen Tsosie, Hasteen Natanii Biitsi; son, Joe Carl Jr.; sisters, Anita Desta, Sadie Tsosie; brother, Jimmy Sorrell; sister, Jean Barney. Pallbearers will be Chester Carl, Gene Carl, Jimmy Carl, Dewyan Carl, CJ Carl, Vincent Carl. The family will receive relatives and friends at Ernest Destea Sr.’s residence, following services.
