Joe V. Polaco, accomplished musician who played amazing guitar passed away peacefully on New Year’s Day, 2019 at the age of 83 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chama, NM to Pedro and Bernardita Polaco and came to Albuquerque at a young age.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Marylou; children Debbie (Gabe) Gallegos, Elizabeth Polaco, Joseph (Cammie) Polaco; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother Lorenzo (Carol) Polaco and sister Betty (Byron) Miller. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Luis, Sammy and Eloy Polaco and sister Sabinita DeVargas.
After 38 years, Joe retired from the Albuquerque Journal Tribune as a printer. He was a member of The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Joe loved fishing, the outdoors and spending time with his family. He had his own bands including JP and the Turnpikes and JP’s Combo and played with other bands as well. He will be remembered for his love for Jesus, family and by the joy he gave through his music.
A rosary will be recited on January 9th at 8:15 am followed by a 9:00 a.m mass at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11509 Indian School Rd NE. Internment to follow at Gate of Heaven, 7999 Wyoming N.E.
