John Todd Babineaux

January 14, 1971 — December 26, 2021

John Todd Babineaux (50) passed suddenly Christmas night 2021 in Albuquerque after a joyful and festive day with his loving family, preparing and serving his traditional Cajun gumbo meal.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Beth Clark Babineaux, and is survived by his father, Larry; his wife Starlit; two sons Gregory James and Aidan Riley; brothers Jim (Lisa) and Greg; nephews Nick (Arianna) and Drew; nieces Jessica Thayer (Josh), Janae and Ty; three grandnephews and a grandniece; Uncle Joe Clark (Diane) Brandon and Ryan; a large, loving Louisiana family, Brandon (Shantell), Paul (Julie) and Christine (Jared); lifelong friends Chad DeWall and Justin Wiseman and his devoted godmother Louise Ihle.

John was born at the US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs January 14, 1971 and also lived in Virginia, Belgium and finally Albuquerque where he attended John Baker Elementary, Hoover Middle, and Eldorado HS.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and graduated with honors from the Anderson School of Business, University of New Mexico.

Prior to UNM, John worked with the Hyatt Hotel Albuquerque, the Prairie Star and also Hyatt Tamaya resort at Santa Ana Pueblo.

After graduating from UNM, John transitioned from food service to government contracting and worked with Verus Research as the Senior Contracts and Subcontracts Administrator.

John was a lifelong and knowledgeable LSU Tigers and Denver Broncos fan. Earlier in life, John played and coached soccer and also was an avid, accomplished skier.

John was also a devoted and involved father, he and son Gregory recently went to Denver for a Broncos game and they watched sports almost every night. John and son Aidan spent many days and nights together with Chad and Justin camping and fishing NM and CO streams and lakes.

A celebration of life is planned at St Chads Episcopal Church January 8 at 11 AM. The family enjoys flowers and requests any gifts be directed to personal charities.
