John Joseph Chamberlain

John Joseph Chamberlain, affectionately known as Jack, peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He was born on June 23, 1931, in Minot, North Dakota, to Joseph Bowman Chamberlain and Margaret Elizabeth Blackburn Chamberlain.

Jack’s educational journey began at St. Leo’s Catholic School, from which he graduated in the Class of 1950. He furthered his studies by earning a Business degree from Minot State Teachers College in 1958. In his dedication to his country, he served honorably for four years as an Airman 2nd Class in the United States Air Force, reflecting his commitment and patriotism.

On September 1, 1952, Jack married the love of his life, Donna Olive Gerdes, in a ceremony held in Rapid City, South Dakota. Their bond lasted 52 wonderful years until her passing, and together they built a family that Jack cherished deeply. His professional life included 16 years at Graves Oil in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Jack was a man of many passions, including an ardent love for NASCAR, where he enjoyed both watching the races and participating in stock car racing during his youth. He was also a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers. Music played a significant role in his life, particularly the timeless melodies of Frank Sinatra. Dad's favorite quote was  “I Did It My Way" from Frank Sinatra's hit song "My Way."

His commitment to community service was evident as he was an active member of the American Legion, the Elks, and held the distinguished title of a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Yet, above all, Jack valued the time spent with his family, creating lasting memories with those he loved.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Olive Chamberlain; his brother, William James Chamberlain; his sister-in-law, Darlene Teel; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Gerdes. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Boney and husband Craig of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his son, John Chamberlain and wife Michelle of Marion, Iowa; his daughter, Mary Cole and husband Bill (deceased) of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; his son, Jim Chamberlain of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; along with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A service to honor Jack’s life will begin with the Recitation of the Rosary at St. John Vianney Catholic Church located at 1001 Meteor Ave NE, Rio Rancho, NM, at 11:30 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2025. This will be followed by a Mass at 12:00 PM and inurnment at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.

John Joseph Chamberlain leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and commitment to family and country that will be cherished by all who knew him.
