John R. Christensen

Christensen, John Ronald, Age 83, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018. He was born in Odense, Denmark on July 23, 1935, to  Einer and Erna Christensen. 

He attended Santa Cruz High School in Santa Cruz, California. John served with honor in the United States Marine Corps for four years with the rank of Corporal. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal along with many accolades and honors. John retired from Rio Rancho Public Schools Transportation after 25 years. He also was part of Nights of Columbus Council (#06696). 

John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ofelia M. Christensen; daughter, Liz Sanchez; son, Michael (Hunduyen) Christensen; five grandchildren, Victor Sanchez, Angela Anaya, Richard and Steven Castro, Victoria Christensen; ten great-grandchildren, Iziah, Brooklynn, Kailana, Victor III, King, Armando, Angenique, Alana, Andres, Kaiya.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1001 Meteor Ave NE, Rio Rancho, NM.   

Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will take place following the service at Vista Verde Memorial Park.

John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
