John A. Gortz

GORTZ-John A. Gortz, 87, a resident of New Mexico since 1989 passed away October 21, 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie (“Tippy”) Gortz-King and husband Michael of Houston, TX; cousins, Mimi and Riet of Holland; nephew, Henry; nieces, Christina, Joanne, Monica. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Willy B. Gortz. John was a veteran and POW of World War II and served in the Dutch Army. He was active in the City of Rio Rancho and was known as “Cave”. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in John’s name to the University of New Mexico Cancer Center, 1201 Camino de Salude Drive, Albuquerque, NM 87102, 505-272-4943. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, October 25, 2010, Sandia Springs, 1000 Riverview Drive SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
