John Clayton Holt (J.C.), 93, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, entered heaven on October 8, 2008. J.C. was born on June 5, 1915, to Joe Holt and Flora Mildred Fletcher in Hamlin, Texas. J.C. and Nellie Reves Holt were married October 16, 1939, in Anson, Texas, and were married for 67 years. He lost his loving wife Nellie, on April 16, 2007. J.C. is survived by one brother-in-law, Robert L. Reves, of Leuders, TX; daughter, Mary Nell Roberts and husband Jack, of Commerce, TX; son, Douglas C. Holt and wife Katherine N., of Farmington; grandchildren, James C. Roberts and wife Linda, of Wills Point, TX, John A. Roberts and wife Dana, of Richardson, TX, Jeb Douglas Holt and wife Louisa, of Durango, CO, Ryan Mathews Holt and wife Erica, of Fredericksburg, VA, and Nicole Lee Holt, of Brooklyn, NY; great grandchildren, Justin and Kathryn Roberts, of Wills Point, TX, Daniel Roberts, of Richardson, TX, Sophia, Cyrus, and Jebbie Holt, of Durango, CO, and Elena and Natalie Holt, of Fredericksburg, VA; nieces, Ann Jenkins, of Glenwood, WV, Patsy Stice Rednez, of Aldorado, TX, Peggy Jordan, of Leuders, TX, Carolyn Burkman, of Leuders, TX, and Linda Moore, of Ely, NV; nephew, Robert L. Reves, of Leuders, TX; and grand nephew, Robert Ray Kershman, of Abilene, TX. J.C. graduated from Hamlin High School, in Hamlin, Texas. After high school, he started working for Standolind Oil & Gas Company in Odessa, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After the war, he returned to Standolind Oil & Gas Company, which became Amoco Production (now BP America) and retired after 38 years of service as the District Foreman in Farmington, NM. He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the BP Needy Family Fund, Child Haven in Farmington, or the Boys and Girls Club of America.
