LARKIN - John Anthony Larkin, Jr. John passed away from this life on August 20, 2010 at his home in Rio Rancho. He was 79 years old at the time of his death. John Anthony Larkin, Jr. was born September 6, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas; the son of John, Sr. and Theresa (Buscher) Larkin. Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. John served in the marines during the Korean War. He enlisted into the Army the day after his twentieth birthday on September 7, 1950. He did two tours of duty while in Korea, the Korean Theatre and the Communist China Aggression tours. He was honorably discharged three years later on September 8, 1953. After returning home from the war, John married his beloved wife of 55 years, Shanda Dufty in 1955. The two resided in Pueblo, Colorado with their family before eventually moving to Albuquerque. He spent much of his professional career as a stock broker. John loved fishing, football, and politics. “Grandpa John” was loved by all who knew him and by those who had the pleasure of meeting him. His grandchildren thought him to be one of the greatest grandpa’s anyone could ever have. He was always there and supported them in whatever they excelled in, he was all of his grandchildren’s biggest fan and hero. Preceding John in death were his parents; one brother, Tom; and a son, John Larkin, III. Surviving him in death is his beloved wife Shanda; one brother, James (Diane) Larkin of Ridgeway, Colorado; four daughters, Stephanie (Wayne) Roybal, of Aurora, Colorado; Teresa (Donald) Weeks of Rio Rancho; Kristen Larkin (Peter Lorenzen) of Rio Rancho; and Tracy (Daroah) Powell of Aurora, Colorado. Also surviving John are his 12 grandchildren; Jeff, Chris, Ryan, Cameron, Jordan, Steven, Taylor, Hannah, Jackie, Matthew, Nick, and Katie; 8 great-grandchildren, Deandria, Jace, Carson, Micah, Lucas, Kayla, Kendall, and Darian; and several nieces and nephews, Corben, Kurt, Lisa, Janelle, and Quinten. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery in Rye, Colorado. John’s care has been entrusted to: Daniels Family Funeral Services 2400 Southern Blvd SE Rio Rancho, NM 87124 (505) 891-9192
