John Leonard Murphy

John Leonard Murphy, 64, passed away at his home in Lemitar, NM on January 20, 2022.

John was born in Deming, NM on December 31, 1957 to Joe and Phyllis Murphy.  He was the second of four children and lived the majority of his life in the Socorro area.  John was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, boat and camp. He was also a talented heavy equipment operator and retired from NM Tech after many years of service.  John was many things to many people; however, his greatest pride came from being a loving and devoted daddy to his precious daughter Caitlin.

John is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 30 years Cheryl and their daughter Caitlin, his third wife Jennifer, his sister Rhonda and his nephew Christopher.  He is survived by his brother Aaron (Mary), his sisters Sheila and Sandy, his step-daughters Heidi and Eryn and many other family members and friends.

John will be laid to rest in a private family service alongside his parents, sister and nephew.

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers any gifts be made in honor of Caitlin Paige Murphy to the UNM Children’s Hospital.   (www.unmhealth.org)
