John David Reinert, age 75, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024. He was born on July 17, 1949, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, to Howard and Marjorie Reinert.

John’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and remarkable contributions to his community. After serving in the Army from 1966 to 1969, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and Marksman Designation for the M-14, John pursued his passion for construction and masonry at the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute. He dedicated 23 years of his life to the Albuquerque Bio Park/Zoo, where he served as a construction supervisor, playing a pivotal role in transforming it into the beautiful place it is today.

John is survived by his beloved children: Sandra Hendricks of Albuquerque, Renee Sanchez (Angelo) of Albuquerque, Elizabeth Reinert of Albuquerque, Michael Reinert of Allentown, PA, and Luis Rodriguez of Portland, OR. He was a devoted brother to Linda Salazar and Debbie Schnetzler (Mike) of Albuquerque, Rick Reinert of Lahaina, HI, and Howard Reinert of Hilo, HI. John was a proud grandfather to Ashle Smith (Vince), Gabriel Romero, Abel Sanchez, Katherine Sanchez, Raymond Shaw, and Cruz Ramirez, and he cherished his great-grandchildren Aiden, Layne, Zane, and Izayah. And his cherished niece and nephews: Matthew Salazar (Nadia), Christopher Salazar (Sarah), Jason Reinert, and Karen Reinert along with their children, Mya, Sienna, Zane, Dacia, Mikayla, Sebastian, & Brittney. Schnoodles, his best friend and companion in life, brought immense joy to his days, and we know he was waiting for John when he arrived in heaven.

In addition to his professional achievements, John was involved in various clubs and organizations, serving as past president and a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Albuquerque Gem and Mineral Club. His interests included rockhounding, metal detecting, playing trivia games, having barbecues with friends and family, and music.

John was preceded in death by his father Howard David Reinert, mother Marjorie M. Reinert, grandson Raymond Sean Shaw, and brother Billy Reinert.

The family expresses profound gratitude to the dedicated staff at The Retreat Alzheimer’s Specialty Care facility who provided compassionate care for John, ensuring he felt loved and supported throughout his journey.
