John Thompson MARIANO LAKE - Funeral services for John Thompson, 84, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 3, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Jones Dehiya will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery. Thompson died Nov. 27, 2009, in Mariano Lake. He was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Mariano Lake, into the Water's Edge People Clan for the Start of the Red Streak People Clan. Thompson retired from Santa Fe Railroad after 28 and did farm work and ranch work. He also worked and trained on carentry for ONEO-CETA. Survivors include his sons, Larry Thompson, Patterson Thompson, Henry T. Begaye, all of Mariano Lake; daughters, Christine Clifford, Bertha Chavez, Susie Thompson, all of Mariano Lake. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife Ella Thompson; sons, John Thompson Jr., Preston Thompson, Jerry Thompson; daughters, Linda Thompson, Voilet Thompson, Debra Thompson; parents, Chee Johnson, Martha Thompson; sister, Mae Grey. Pallbearers will be Larry Thompson, Patterson Thompson, Gerald Thompson, Tryone Begay, LaDaniel Martin, Anthony Reeder. The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter House, following services. Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
