Johnny Secatero

Funeral services for Johnny Secatero, 65, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, at St. Isabel Mission, Lukachukai. The Rev. Blane Grein, OFM, will officiate. Burial will be in Lukachukai Community Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Secatero died Aug. 25, 2010, in Albuquerque. He was born Jan. 4, 1945, in Phoenix, into the Mexican People Clan for the Big Water People Clan. Secatero graduated from Diné College and went on to complete his master’s degree in elementary education. He taught Navajo language and culture at Lukachukai Community School. He was Lukachukai Chapter Vice-President for two terms. His hobbies included painting fishing and teaching. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Secatero; sons, Nathaniel Secatero, Augustine Secatero; daughters, Christine Secatero, Angelina Secatero; parents, Frank and Elizabeth Secatero; brothers, Jerry Secatero, Frank Secatero Jr., Leonard Secatero, Bruce Secatero; sister, Rosita Fulwilder; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Secatero was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Secatero; brothers, Ernest Secatero, Eugene Secatero, James Secatero.
