Jose Apollonio Ortiz

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved father, Mr. Jose Apollonio Ortiz who passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025. He was born on April 25, 1937, to Amalio Casimero Ortiz and Maria Celina Perea Ortiz in Rayado, New Mexico.

He is survived by his former spouse, Esperanza Duran; sister, Margaret Coughnour; as well has his sons, Mr. Craig Rivera and family who reside in Las Cruces, NM, Mr. Maurice and Mitzi Ortiz residing in San Antonio, TX, Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Ortiz residing in Oregon, Mr. Paul and Annavie Ortiz residing in Rio Rancho, NM and Mr. Thomas and Stacy Ortiz who reside in Rio Rancho, NM. He is survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Gonzales and family, Felicia, Mercedes, Adrian, Paul Justin (PJ), Diego and Muray Ortiz, and Olivia. He had one great grandchild Ezra Ortiz.

He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy and the long-time business owner of Ortiz Earthscapes in which he constructed numerous golf courses around the world. Golf was his lifelong passion, not only as a builder but as an avid golf professional at the Angel Fire Country Club in his early years. He passed on his love and passion for golf to his sons where they were able to bond the course.

We would like to take the time to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers through this difficult time in our family. Jose Apollonio (Paul) will be deeply missed.
