Josefita “Fita,” (Soltero) Horcasitas, 93, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019. Fita had a love for life that was infectious. She lived life to the fullest, enjoying country western dancing, traveling, playing cards and bingo. She earned her nursing degree in her 40’s and devoted the rest of her career to caring for patients in hospitals. Later, she worked as a school nurse, and finally as the charge nurse at St. Francis Gardens nursing home, where she ran a very tight ship! She was a much beloved mother, to Bill Horcasitas of Huntington Beach, CA, Patricia Marshall (dec), and Annie Finnegan of Arvada, CO. She was loved and adored by her three granddaughters, Natalie Cann of Santa Rosa, CA, Jerri Ortiz-Greenler of Bradford, MA, and Kelsey Finnegan of Anaheim, CA. She is survived by siblings Ernesto Medina of Dallas, TX, Savino Medina of Hayward, CA, Manuel Medina of Silver City, NM, and Natalie Quintana of Albuquerque, NM. In addition she was loved and will be missed by many nephews, nieces and great-grandchildren. Fita will be cremated and interred at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho, NM. Her memorial will be held on Sunday April 7th at 10:00 a.m. and her family welcomes her friends to attend. 4310 Sara Road S.E., Rio Rancho, NM 87124 (nice #519 within Floral Gardens in the southwest section of the memorial park)
