Joseph "Bo" Baiardo, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong scientist, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at the age of 80.  Born on June 1, 1946, in Ozzano Monferrato, Italy, Joseph immigrated to the United States at the age of eleven, embarking on a life defined by curiosity, craftsmanship, and dedication to his family. Joseph spent his career pursuing his passion for chemistry, ultimately retiring from Los Alamos National Laboratory. His love for science extended far beyond his professional life; he approached the world with a deep desire to understand how things worked, complemented by a delightfully quirky sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to those around him. A hands-on builder and tinkerer at heart, he found great fulfillment in repairing, renovating, and constructing projects on his own. Outside of his work, Joseph had a variety of passions. He was an avid soccer fan, held a lifelong fascination with trains and model railroading, and took great joy in raising birds, with a special fondness for finches and canaries. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his three sons, Joseph, Jonathan, and Justin; and his eight grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "Nonno" and brought him immense pride and joy. Joseph’s legacy of intellect, humor, professional dedication, and deep love for his family will be dearly remembered by all who knew him.

Services:  A viewing will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Daniels Funeral Home - Southern Chapel in Rio Rancho, NM. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 12:00 PM (noon) at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, NM.
