Joseph R. Spier, 89, passed away on March 2, 2026, in Albuquerque. He was born on April 24, 1936, in Kellers Church to Joseph and Bertha Spier.
Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class for four years. After his military service, he was known as a hardworking “jack of all trades,” always willing to help others and fix just about anything.
On July 5, 1958, Joseph married the love of his life, Sally Hurtgen, in Albuquerque. They shared 67 years of marriage together, building a life centered on family, faith, and community.
He was a member of the Golden Eagles and attended Queen of Heaven Church. Joseph will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his quiet generosity.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Sally Spier of Albuquerque; his daughter, Terri Craig of Los Ranchos; and his son, Joseph L. Spier of Schenectady. He is also survived by two grandchildren, along with several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, including step-grandchildren.
Joseph’s life was marked by service, devotion to family, and a willingness to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
