Gonzales, Josephine M
80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 with her loving family at her side. She was born in Coruco, NM on September 10, 1934 to Jose C. and Escolastica (Aguilar) Medina. Josephine, affectionately known by her great grandchildren as "Ata" was a very talented lady and had many hobbies such as crocheting, doing plastic canvas, visiting the casinos, and cooking. She made the best red chile and salsa. She worked at many places as well, she was a teacher's aide in Bernal, she worked at Eagle Pitcher, and also for Tripp's Jewelry. More than anything else "Ata" simply loved to be with her family and friends, she adored them all. In all her 80 years, Josephine's faith was strong and her membership of the San Miguel Catholic church was devout. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brothers, Tony and Charlie Medina; her sisters, Nancy Valencia and Felice Griego; and friend and father of her children, Alex S. Gonzales. Josephine is survived by her devoted children, Henry "Rico" Gonzales; Alex S. Gonzales Jr.; Anna Gonzales; Ronnie Gonzales and wife, Narcisa; Betty Saavedra and husband, Joe; Paul Gonzales and Yvette Silva; and Brenda Sanchez and husband Edward; her siblings, Clorinda Montoya; Ruben Medina and wife, Viola; and Celia Montoya and husband, Lucio; and many other loving family members and close friends. "Ata" will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Miguel, Diego, and Marialisa Gonzales; Jose Gonzales and Kelsie Levitt; Melissa Salazar and Chris Scarborough, Kiko Salazar and Melanie Apodaca, Victoria Salazar and Josh Turrietta, and Taylor Saavedra; Rhonda Gonzales; Brad Gonzales, Rose Chavez, Yolanda Olivas and Jose and Sarah Olivas and family; Necole Cano and Victor Gomez, Nick Cano Jr. and Tori Mascarenas, Alexandria Cano and Severvito Baca, and Vanessa Sanchez and Jose Guzman; her great grandchildren, Anissa; Sarah, Markus, Gabriel, and Karley; Cee, Cenyon, and Cruz; Brooklyn; Zaryah and Jayveon; Erica; Jacqueline; Alex and Deanna; Victor Jr. and Heaven; Orlando; and Sierra. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10:00 am followed by the Mass of Resurrection which will be celebrated at 10:30 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro. Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Inurnment will take place in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jose Gonzales, Miguel Gonzales, Kiko Salazar, Nick Cano Jr., Chris Scarborough, and Rhonda Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers are Yvonne Anaya, and Patrick and Patricia DiBartolomeo.
