Josephine Amelia Huter

December 18, 1925 — November 25, 2023

Albuquerque

Josephine (Josefina) Pacheco-Huter passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023. She joins her husband John, parents Emelinda Leger-Pacheco and Teodosio Pacheco, siblings Marie Mackey, Ted and Joe Pacheco.  Born in 1925 in Las Vegas, NM and raised in Albuquerque by her single mother, Josephine attended St. Mary’s.

She married John in 1945 and stayed home to raise her children whom she leaves behind: Linda Huter-Lehman (husband Ron), Ted Huter and Teri Jillson (husband Chris).

She worked in retail for Fedway, as a secretary for the VFW, and was a dedicated volunteer for the Democratic Party, the Indian Pueblo Cultural  Center and a docent at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Jo was a devoted caregiver her entire life, first for her children, then her mother and her husband. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, Kathryn and Christopher Jillson. She was proud of her northern New Mexico heritage, which she traced to the Spanish settlers almost 500 years ago.

We’re grateful beyond words to her family at Morada Albuquerque memory care—staff and friends who lovingly embraced and cared for her in her final years. This life may end but love never dies.

She will be very missed and remembered by all those whose lives she touched.  No services will be held per her request.
