Josephine “Bingo Jo” McBride
November 24, 1919 – December 4, 2017
98 years on Earth – Forever in our hearts
She was born Josephine Chaseck to Benjamin and Helen Chaseck in Brooklyn, New York on November 24, 1919, where she grew up and lived for many years. On February 1st, 1947 she married her best friend, Irving “Buddy” McBride whom she had her eye on for quite some time ( though she wouldn’t admit it to us). She had four children together with Buddy: MaryAnn of Fort Meyers Beach FL, Thomas of Rio Rancho NM, Kenneth of Floral Park NY who is married to RoseAnn Gallo McBride , and Daniel McBride of Albuquerque NM. She was also beloved “Grandma” to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren which she though was pretty great, too.
Jo and Buddy moved to Rio Rancho, NM in February 1975 to enjoy the abundant sunshine and fresh air during their retirement years. Together they went to bingo and the casino nearly everyday for years (where she won her car in 1985 after noticing an owl sitting in the old cottonwood tree in the front yard of their home). She loved owls from that day forward! Buddy went on before her to Heaven in October 1991 at the age of 74.
Like the Energizer Bunny’s Grandma, Jo kept going and going and going. Even through some serious medical down-turns in her last few years, and even when the doctors and others were ready to give up on her, she refused to give up on herself. She proved them all wrong over and over again, even fighting her way back (mostly) from a stroke in December 2016.
On November 24, 2017 she celebrated her 98th birthday surrounded by her loved ones. She went back to see her friends at Sandia Casino and won a few bucks on lottery scratchers. On December 4, 2017 she took her first breath in Heaven as she was welcomed Home by her Jesus. Ladies and Gentlemen, Josephine has left the building.
