Joyce Katherine Crites

Joyce K. Crites died peacefully at her home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on September 6th, 2021 at the age of 84.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Vickery of Albuquerque, NM, her son Eddie Vickery Jr. of Rio Rancho, NM, her daughter Sheree Vickery of Richardson, TX, her sister Shirley David of Raton, NM, and by her brother Jimmy Stevens of Rio Rancho, NM. She is also survived by her 5 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren She is preceded in death by her father Jim Hollis Stevens, her mother Ruby Inez Stevens, her husband Ron Crites, her brother Jerry Lynn Stevens, her brother Jack Stevens, and by her first husband & children’s father Eddie Vickery Sr.

Joyce was born on June 22nd of 1937 to Ruby Inez Thompson and Jim Hollis Stevens in Groesbeck, Texas. Joyce was devoted to her children, being a stay-at-home mom for 64 years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge for over 20 years and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan since 1960. All the family knew not to criticize her Cowboys.

A personal note from the family:

“She passed peacefully surrounded by her children and other loved ones. She joined her heavenly family from her home as was her wish. Known by all as Mom, Nana, or Sis. She was a very strong woman, so very loved and respected by all.

We will always miss her.”
