1934-2012 June entered our world in Worcester, Massachusetts as June Arter, and very early showed her love of color, light, nature and beauty. She learned her skills at the Rhode Island School of Design, and added to them in Paris. She developed them at the Smithsonian Institute, and then she continued as a commercial illustrator, as an advertising artist, and later as a painter, stone carver and sculptor. Over fifty years of living in New Mexico and time at her mountain retreat in Colorado fed her love of beauty, and was reflected in all her work. Her most beautiful work, though, was as a wife and mother. June is leaving a husband after nearly fifty-four years, Dick, and two children, Allison and Rick, his wife Janell, a brother Bill and wife Ronnie in Florida and three beautiful grandchildren, Alora, Amanda and Kelton. June created beauty around her. From Girl Scouts to Toastmasters, to garden clubs she brought beauty into other lives. She claimed to live in an artist��?�s ivory tower, yet she assiduously immersed herself in politics, education and medicine. She fought a valiant battle against cancer for three years. On May 1st, 2012 June left our world more beautiful than she had entered. A Celebration of June's life will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, 1:00 pm, at Daniels Family Funeral Services-Strong-Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque.
