Karen Lou Boles

October 27, 1942 — June 12, 2022

Our beloved sister, aunt and friend peacefully passed from this world and went to be with Jesus.  Karen Lou Boles was born to Iven & Beulah Boles in Greenville, VA on October 27, 1942 and went “Home” to Jesus on Sunday, June 12, 2022.  She went prepared to meet her Lord and Savior and reunite with her parents.  She hasn’t seen her dad since she was 13 when he went to heaven and her mother with whom she lived & cared for all of her adult life, who went to join him in 2013.  What a beautiful reunion that must have been!

Karen was known as a well-dressed, classy lady who was strong, hard-working, always willing to put in the extra time to do the job right and treat everyone the way she would want to be treated.  She worked for PNM for 30+ years and even after retirement spent many hours working on the Board of Retirees (PNM Forerunners) and last year ended her time with them after being the president for a while.  She loved her retirees and traveled the state to hold events and make sure they were taken care of.  Those closest to her admired this along with her loving and giving spirit.  She had a deep devotion to her family and loved spending time with them.  She went on many trips with her mom and sister and her sister’s family.  One yearly trip she never missed, for 49 years straight, and was so looking forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of, was her Decker family Reunion in Kentucky, every July.  She loved being around people, especially family and friends and would never turn down the chance to go shopping.  Those shopping trips typically entailed getting a gift or two for family, friends or her cats.  Her love language was definitely gifts and time, she will be greatly missed but fondly remembered each time we see one of the gifts she bestowed on us.

When Karen got to heaven she was met by her parents, Iven & Beulah Boles and her great-nephew Cody Deane.  Karen leaves behind her sister Dottye (Bill) Deane of Albuquerque, NM; nephews Doug (Paula) Deane, Scott (Rebekah) Deane & niece Kellye Deane; great-nieces: Rachelle (Kevin) Hudson, Caylyn Deane; great-nephews: Ryan (Shelby) Deane, Caleb Deane & Jeffrey Deane; and 4 great-great-nieces and 2 great-great nephews.  Also many friends and Decker family members who will miss her greatly.

The Burial will take place at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Hardinsburg, KY on Sunday, July 31, 2022 @ 2:30pm.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held at Daniels Funeral Home, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque on August 6, 2022 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

As someone who loved and supported her family members, especially those with special needs and medical exceptionalities, the family asked that any donations go to support Bella’s Bumbas to provide mobility to children who have no or limited mobility access.  www.bellasbumbas.com
