Karen Velasquez

Karen Velasquez, 62 passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, surrounded by family members.

She is survived by her parents Edward and Theresa Romero Velasquez, brother Brian (Tammy) Velasquez three nephews and nieces: Kameron (Ashley) Velasquez, Alexis (Jeremy) Roybal and Garrett Velasquez, seven great nephews and nieces: Kooper, Ryleigh, Brody, Emerson, Sophia, Dax and Bo as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Karen was born in Alamosa, Colorado on May 23, 1962, and had a forty-five year career in the insurance industry.

She was predeceased by her grandparents: Medward and Celina Romero and Orlando and Ester Velasquez.

Karen's life was marked by love and compassion, and her smile brightened every room she entered.

Her nieces and nephews would often spend the night or entire weekends with her. She would take them to events or outings of their choice or just spend the time doing crafts.

At the age of two she was lovingly nicknamed “KK” by her dad which stuck with her the rest of her life. Nieces and Nephews, all called her “aunt KK”. Coworkers and friends referred to her as “KK” as well.

Karen was a person of inner strength and a free spirit. Karen’s radiant smile will forever be in our hearts.
